Each year, Bonnie Plants gives students the opportunity to grow and earn some green, as each “Best in State” colossal cabbage winner receives a $1,0000 scholarship.
After months of watering it daily, checking for weeds and packing it with straw, Kinsey’s hoping her cabbage can take top honors here in North Carolina.
Kinsey harvested her cabbage on May 25 but says that won’t be her last time planting.“My Papa has a garden,” said Kinsey. “And, I like to help him a lot.”
