Splashes of warm mango and fresh deep green greets as you make your way across the Lanai at Hawaii’s Volcano Mist Cottage. Lava rock has been painstakingly styled into an outdoor fireplace that will chase the chill away as you relax after returning from a hike near Kilauea’s Halemaumau crater. Nestled in a valley right next to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Volcano Mist Cottage offers communion with Nature and the elements.

The cottage is shaded by a lush, leafy tropical garden that includes a private spa-style forest-side Jacuzzi bath as well as an outside shower. Both of which use filtered rainwater which is collected on-site at this self-described ‘eco-resort’. Warm honey-orange toned pine wood has been used to construct the cottage; the interior is well appointed and cozy.

This secluded rental has rave reviews and many repeat visitors with some calling it the ‘a beautiful hidden getaway on the Big Island’ and others simply naming it a ‘Secret Eden.’
