Driving across the whole country, you're bound to pass tons of classic American stops. Start in Boston, where the country basically began, and honor the American Revolution with a visit to the Old North Church. Pay tribute to America's favorite pasttime at the Baseball Hall of Fame, and stop by the former home of American legend Harriet Tubman. The route also wanders through Cleveland, where you can jam out at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, and then passes through Chicago, where you can get a crazy view of the city from atop the Willis Tower (better known as the Sears Tower) and brush up on your architecture knowledge at Frank Lloyd Wright's house.

Once you reach Iowa, you'll see a lot of cornfields, but there's one in particular to visit: the one with the baseball diamond from Field of Dreams– don't forget to bring a glove, bat and baseball! Also visit theLewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Sioux City and be thankful that your cross-country road trip is a bit easier than theirs. In Nebraska, imagine what the country looked like millions of years ago and check out the fossils atAshfall State Historical Park, and then appreciate the uniquely American weirdness that is Carhenge.

U.S. 20 passes through Cody, Wyoming, named for Buffalo Bill Cody, so the Buffalo Bill Museum is a must. You'll also want to stop byYellowstone National Park (America's coolest park ever) and its also-cool neighbor, Grand Teton National Park. Idaho is no small potatoes when it comes to stuff to see and do as well; they've got Craters of the Moon National Monument and a museum dedicated to the world's first nuclear power plant. Once you finally, at last reach Oregon, celebrate with a pint atDeschutes Brewery (one of America's first craft breweries) and a warm bowl of clam chowder at Mo's Restaurant. There's nothing quite like dipping your feet in the Pacific Ocean after an exhausting but exciting 3,000 mile excursion!
