The James Cameron movie earned around Rs 131 crore to 133 crore in its first weekend in India, breaking the lifetime record of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
According to Box office, India, ‘Avatar:The Way of Water’ smashed the records of Avengers Endgame in South India by a margin as it collected around 7 crore net more than the highest-grossing Hollywood film Avengers Endgame.
The film is the first in post-pandemic history to have such a massive opening day figure. Also in 2009, Avatar was far bigger in the South and that has been replicated by Avatar – The Way Of Water too.
According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Way of water had a blast opening week at the box office worldwide. He wrote, “#AvatarTheWayOfWater 1st Weekend BO: North America – $134 Million. China – $59 Million. Rest of the World – $242 Million. Total – $435 Million.”
The sci-fri drama is hailed as beyond expectation by the fans. Fans and critics gave an overwhelmingly positive response for the movie. Avatar 2 is released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on December 16, 2022 across 4,000 theaters in India The movie features Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldaana, and Kate Winslet, among others, in lead roles.
