The event was organized in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Vietnamese cultural celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu (July 1, 1822 – July 1, 2022) in Ben Tre Province, Vietnam.

The event has assembled more than 60 chefs who are divided into 11 teams to participate in the processing and presenting hundred of coconut-based delicacies in Ben Tre province, Vietnam. The delicacies are made from different parts of the coconut tree, such as coconut palm heart, shredded coconut, desiccated coconut, coconut milk, coconut water, sprouted coconut, etc. A total of 222 delicacies are made from coconut, such as roasted shrimp with coconut milk, pancakes with coconut meat and shrimp, duck cooked with fresh coconut water, etc.

Various components of the coconut tree were used at the event.

Upon completion, 222 coconut delicacies would be stored in handmade coconut utensils including cups, plates…, and then displayed on a model of coconut trees (size: 8m x 6m).

This event aims to highlight for both domestic and foreign tourists the distinguishing features of traditional cuisine, particularly the specialties of Ben Tre province and Vietnam in general, and notably the delicacies made from coconut.
