The Vietnam Records Organization has formally proposed to the World Records Institute (WorldMark) and the USA Records Organization (USKings) beginning the Journey to nominate TOP 100 best-selling OCOP-certified items in Vietnam 2023 with the purpose of enhancing the image of the nation and the Vietnamese people not only through record values but also through other distinctive qualities. Due to this journey, foreign buyers will have comprehensive and close access to Vietnam’s distinctive values.

Khau Nua Lech is a rare glutinous rice variety that has been cultivated for many generations by ethnic minorities in Thuong Quan commune, Ngan Son district, Bac Kan province. Khau Nua Lech glutinous rice offers exceptional value because its cooked rice is extremely versatile, highly seasoned, and aromatic. Furthermore, the paddies are resistant to pests and the effects of environmental factors.

The characteristics that make Khau Nua Lech Ngan Son glutinous rice prestigious are that the rice grain is round, brightly white, and covered with a light brown color on the top; therefore, it is called “steel sticky rice”. The reason the locals give it such a special name is that the rice grain has the same color as that of steel; furhtermore, it implies that the value of rice is as precious as gold.
