Vung Tau City, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, is one of Vietnam’s most beautiful and appealing coastal cities, with a 42-kilometer-long beachfront. It is also an economic center and an important entrance to the sea in the Southeast region.

To commemorate International Labor Day (May 1) and meet the demands of locals and tourists for culture, art, and entertainment, Vung Tau government leaders prepared and organized a series of commemorative events that will take place continuously from April 29, 2023 to May 3, 2023 at Thuy Van Beach, Thuy Van Street, Vung Tau City.

Among them, the most prominent event is the Kite Flying Festival with the theme “Vung Tau City – Aspiration to fly high” organized by the Vung Tau City Center for Culture, Information and Sports from April 29 to May 1. At the festival, the Vung Tau City Center for Culture – Information – Sports organized an aerodynamic kite exhibition and sport kite performance in order that the guests can admire and take memorable photos.

Particularly, there was a giant Delta kite with a length of 39 meters to be displayed and flown, which set a Vietnam record as the largest Delta kite with the theme “Vung Tau City – Aspiration to fly high” in the 48th anniversary of the Day of liberating the South for national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2023).

The enormous kite is 14.9m wide and up to 39m long, with a 9m long head and a 30m long tail. The kite was created in 10 days by kite artist Pham Van Tam and his associates.

In addition, the event also had the presence of thousands of students and teachers from local Primary and Secondary schools with attractive musical performances. Representatives of local leaders, students, and teachers together wrote their dreams on the kite of “Vung Tau City – Aspiration to fly high” before the kite was flown into the sky of the city.

The moment this unique kite officially was flying high in the sky was also an image symbolizing the dreams and aspirations of the Vung Tau residents as well as the belief in the superior position of Vung Tau city. (Photo: VietKings)
