Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) is a Non-Profit, U.S. Coast Guard classified oil spill Removal organization (OSRO) that was formed in 1990 by a group of oil and gas operators following the Valdez spill.
MSRC now supports 86 customers with offshore operations to secure and maintain approved oil spill response plans with reliable and credible response capabilities throughout the United States. MSRC maintains the largest portfolio of dedicated oil spill response resources in the world that satisfies the Oil Spill Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90) response capability requirements for offshore exploration and production, wind farms, export terminals and tankers.
Key features of MSRC’s capabilities include 114 oil spill response vessels, 650,000 barrels of dedicated storage, 15 oil spill response barges, 680,000 feet of boom, 355 skimming systems, 22,500 feet of pyro-boom and 121,500 gallons of dispersant. Specialized equipment includes advanced surveillance systems on airborne, aerostat and vessel-mounted platforms.
MSRC also supports its customers with emergency communications packages that can re-establish internet and voice connectivity anywhere in the world. In its 28 years of operation, MSRC has never failed to successfully respond to a customer incident. Regardless of the size or severity of the spill incident, MSRC scales the response to the fit the needs and circumstances of the event.
