L.A. Guinea Pig Rescue and Adoption Center (LAGPR) is located in Chatsworth, CA.  The center is a NO-KILL private shelter. All of center’s guinea pigs are located at its facility. At any time we usually have about 300+ guinea pigs and some of those may be babies. The center requires appointments for adoptions, health checks, pop-up urgent care clinic, and bubble baths.

Founder Saskia Chiesa started the organization in 1999 shortly after arriving here from her native Holland. LAGPR offers rescue, sanctuary, and adoption services as well as free wellness checks, nail clips, advice, and ongoing support to all guinea pigs and their owners. Guinea pigs are rescued from city shelters and private parties.

The center’s goal is to open up a low-cost, guinea pig-specific teaching clinic. A place where guinea pigs and their owners can get low-cost treatment, and where veterinarians from all over the world can come and learn the intricacies of guinea pig medicine. The center will also be able to initiate studies to learn more about common illnesses, their causes, and treatments.
