You won’t need to catch the eye of the waitress, bus boy, or cashier at Eatsas, the fast-food and nutritious lunch spots that opened in December 2016 in the Grand Central area on Madison and Third avenues.

Eatsa operates without service staff except for a “concierge” who helps patrons order their entire meal via tablets, and behind-the-scenes prep staff.

Eatsa is a new kind of automated restaurant that offers low-cost and healthy meals. With lower labor costs because it requires fewer staff, it can undersell competitors. Indeed, most customers never speak to another human being during their dining experience.

Eatsa’s computer system remembers every customer’s order. So whenever they return to the restaurant, the system will display their previous orders and recommend new quinoa bowls based on their preferences.

The chain has two locations in San Francisco and Los Angeles and plans to add 10 more restaurants this year, according to Nation’s Restaurant News.
