Buick is a division of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors (GM). Started by automotive pioneer David Dunbar Buick, it was among the first American marques of automobiles, and was the company that established General Motors in 1908.

Buick was founded in 1899 in Jackson, Michigan, making it one of the oldest US automakers still in existence. Originally called the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company, David Dunbar Buick established the company as an internal combustion engine manufacturer. The first Buicks were fairly rudimentary, but by 1904 the brand had developed the first valve-in-head (or overhead) engine-a revolutionary design still used today. The brand was incorporated as the Buick Motor Company in 1903, and its cars quickly gained fame.

Some of the most iconic Buick models were made after WWII. These include the Roadmaster, Skylark, Riviera, and the unparalleled 1955 Buick Special. Car enthusiasts are always dying for a glance under the hood of the Special, a vehicle featuring the famous Fireball and Nailhead V8 engines. By the 1960s and 1970s the brand became known for its performance designs as well as refined styling.

Buick has changed gears, focusing its energy on sophistication. In some ways, the company has always been known for luxury, but virtually all the models developed in recent years are built around refinement. This includes leather seating, chrome trim, the latest technologies, and true comfort. If you’re looking for quality, look no further than a Buick.
