A World of Accordions Museum is one of the largest accordion museums on the planet. It’s also the only building in the United States to be dedicated entirely to the humble accordion. The museum is located in a beige brick building called the Harrington Arts Center. It’s a circa 1911 former Presbyterian church.

It was founded in 1993 with the goal of preserving historic instruments, music, recordings, documents, and artifacts. The collection includes more than 1,300 accordions of all shapes, sizes, colors, and designs, placed in chronological order to show the instrument’s evolution over time.

The accordion emporium also features the Accordion Research Center Libraries, home to two rooms of accordion music, accordion periodicals, and accordion history. And if your accordion is in need of repair, you can stop by the Accordion-concertina Repair and Technicians’ School, which will fix your instrument and teach you accordion manufacturing techniques in the process.

About 2,000 people make the pilgrimage to this unusual museum every year. Sometimes the facility hosts concerts featuring world-renowned accordion artists. The Hanni Strahl Concert Hall seats up to 1,000 people. The facility hosts special events like the annual World Accordion Day Festival in May and if you love accordions, you’ll want to explore the expansive collections.

The World of Accordions Museum is open Saturday-Monday. The museum also has facilities available for weddings, special events, and other meetings.
