A 104-year-old woman from Chicago is hoping to become the oldest person to skydive, the Chicago Tribune reported. Dorothy Hoffner skydived on Sunday to achieve her aim of earning a world record for herself.

“Age is just a number,” she told a cheering crowd of people after touching the ground at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, about 85 miles (140 kilometers) southwest of Chicago. Interestingly, Hoffner had her first skydiving experience when she was 100. On Sunday, she left her walker behind and boarded the plane – a Skyvan – to join others waiting to skydive as well.

“Let’s go, let’s go, Geronimo!” Hoffner said after she was finally seated.

Hoffner claimed that she had to be pushed out of the aircraft when she first skydived. But, not on Sunday. This time, the elderly woman insisted on leading the jump from 13,500 feet (4,100 meters). She was super calm and confident.

Hoffner’s dive lasted seven minutes, post which her friends rushed to congratulate her while someone brought her red walker.
