Lovitch, 39, handcrafted more than 1,000 structures, including a candy factory, coffee shop, carousel and trains.

Lovitch works on his creation all year, using 775 pounds of candy and 682 pounds of gingerbread dough.

What does it take to win the World Record for the world's largest gingerbread village? Roughly 1.5 tons of edible edifices—clocking in at 500 square feet and 1,120 structures, including a 10-square-foot candy factory, two trains, a Pumpkin Spice Latte Coffee Shoppe, and a double-decker Coney Island–style carousel.
There's 682 pounds of gingerbread dough, 775 pounds of candy from around the world, and 3,900 pounds of icing, enough to make children squeal and dentists sob.

At the end of the exhibition, chef Jon Lovitch will dismantle the village and donate some of the houses to children unable to visit the New York Hall of Science while other houses will be available for visitors to take home.
